What I Wish I Could Say To The Little Me

By Lena Maria Sekkelsten Llarena

I’m a young woman and I’m 24 years old and married to my best friend. I love music , I love theater , and I love to sing . These are my hobbies and it gives me soooo much joy.

I have DYRK1A syndrome and because of that I’m also born with autism, ADHD, and mild intellectual disability. I also have some mental illnesses: OCD, PNES, and bipolar disorder.

I live in a care home because of my disabilities. I work one day a week at a place for people with disabilities. I love that place and it gives me so much.

I want to help and educate about this rare genetic disorder and I want to say that anything is possible with faith.

I’ve an amazing husband and we’re happily in love with each other. He’s also disabled so we understand each other in a very special way. Finding love it’s possible. Look at me I’ve been married almost 2 years and being a couple for almost 5 years in May

I wish that I could say to little me that everything will be okay. For a period of my life I thought I was crazy because I was very different and I felt that I didn't fit in anywhere. It was in my early teenage years I finally got the answer that I’m disabled. I’ve this rare syndrome. It was so good to finally have some answers. I think I’m lucky that I’m born a little different. Yeah, I think that way because we’re all unique and created in god’s image.
